The Social Council from the University of Valladolid, during their meeting on the thirty-first March 2009, unanimously agreed to concede the 2009 RESEARCH AWARD to the Institute in their Well-Known Departments, University Institutes and Research Groups category.

This award is a recognition for the educational and research activity that several headmasters, secretaries, and, of course, all members have been practising throughout these years since its beginning in 1988. Moreover, given the time that our society and, especially universities, are currently experiencing, this award can be a way to give grater visibility to studies in history and humanities in our society and the rest of the scientific and university community.
